2: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, becomes enchanted by Christmas and decides to take over the holiday, leading to a whimsical mix-up of both holidays. This stop-motion animated musical is a unique blend of Halloween and Christmas themes.
3: Beetlejuice (1988):
An absolute Fun Place favourite! A recently deceased couple hires an obnoxious ghost named Beetlejuice, played by the incredible Michael Keaton, to help them get rid of the new occupants of their old house. This dark Halloween comedy favourite directed by Tim Burton is known for its quirky characters and eccentric humour. Each year at Fun Place we get several request Beetlejuice Halloween Costumes, Makeup and Liquid Latex.
4: Halloween (1978)
We love Halloween so much we watch this at Christmas, Easter and on out Summer Hols! The iconic Halloween slasher film that started it all, where a masked killer named Michael Myers escapes from a mental institution and returns to his hometown to stalk and terrorise a babysitter played by the brilliant Jamie Lee Curtis. This classic is a staple of Halloween horror and our Michael Myers Halloween Costume is always popular.
5: Halloweentown (1998)
We don’t always want a scary Halloween movie, particularly for the youngens so Halloweentown is the tonic! A young girl discovers her magical heritage and must save her grandmother’s town, Halloweentown, from an evil force. This Disney Channel original movie is a lighthearted adventure suitable for the whole family and we have a wide selection of Boys Halloween Costumes and Girls Halloween Costumes for enjoying with or after.
6: Casper (1995):
If you don’t already love Casper then we suggest repeat watches of this, should only take 1! A friendly ghost named Casper befriends a young girl, and together they uncover the mysteries of his haunted mansion. This family-friendly film blends Halloween comedy, fantasy, and heartwarming moments.
7: Scream (1996)
A Halloween horror movie-obsessed killer targets a group of teenagers in a small town, leading to a series of suspenseful and self-aware events and arguably the greatest of Halloween masks ever seen on screen. This slasher film revitalised the horror genre with its meta commentary and suspenseful plot.
8: It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)
This animated classic follows the Peanuts gang as they celebrate Halloween, with Linus awaiting the arrival of the Great Pumpkin in the pumpkin patch. It’s a heartwarming and nostalgic Halloween special and a chicken soup for the soul. For some it’s a watch for the day after Halloween!
9: Poltergeist (1982)
A personal favourite of mine and am finding it hard not to put it at Number 1! A family’s suburban home becomes plagued by malevolent spirits, particularly targeting their young daughter. This horror film is known for its intense scares and eerie atmosphere.
10: Corpse Bride (2005)
Tim Burton is the Halloween Barm Brack that just keeps on giving! We’re guessing he has a strong claim to be the world’s biggest Halloween fan. Another of his stop-motion animations make our list, this film tells the story of a groom who accidentally proposes to a deceased bride while rehearsing his wedding vows. The movie explores themes of life, death, and love in a visually stunning fantasy world that we, again, could watch even when it’s not Halloween.
