We’re in for a cracker of a June with summer blockbuster movie Jurassic World Dominion gracing the big screen on June 10th. Get the popcorn ready folks as you’re in for a treat!
Jurassic World – Dominion is the 6th and final movie in the Jurassic park franchise directed by Colin Trevorrow and featuring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.
Jurassic Park – Where it all started
It was 1993 when Jurassic Park graced our screens, now that makes us feel old! It is a modern day Dinosaur story, full of edge of your seat excitement and terrifying moments throughout!
Jurassic Park is based on the island of Isla Nublar, where scientists have created an amusement park of cloned dinosaurs.
How did they clone the dinosaurs?
Scientists found Dinosaur blood within mosquitos that had been fossilised in amber. They then used the DNA within that blood to create the Dinosaurs.
Sounds pretty believable doesn’t it!
This Dinosaur Science fiction adventure movie became so popular it led to sequels The Lost World – Jurassic Park in 1997 and Jurassic Park 3 in 2001.
It also led to soaring sales in Dinosaur figurines, soft toys and anything to do with dinosaurs!
Dinosaurs were and always will be cool and that makes them completely fascinating to both kids and adults.
Five Fun Facts about Dinosaurs
- In Jurassic Park, the Spinosaurus and the T. rex met in a bloody battle. But did you know that those 2 dinosaurs existed 40 million years apart from each other! The T. rex lived in North America and the Spinosaurus in Africa.
- Berlin’s Natural History Museum has a skeleton of a T-Rex that they’ve named Tristan! Tristan’s skull was too heavy to put on the skeleton so a 3D printer was used to create a replica attached to the skeleton. His skull is on display in a separate case.
- The largest Dinosaur remains ever found was in Argentina in 2014. It was a Stegosaurus estimated at 40 meters long, 20 meters tall and weighing a whopping 80 tons!!!
- A Stegosaurus had a brain the size of a walnut, roughly around 3 cm long and weighing about 75 grams! Can you imagine a brain that size trying to lug 80 tons about!
- Modern birds are descended from small carnivorous dinosaurs called Theropods. Velociraptor & T-Rex are both theropods but birds descended from the smaller ones. Thank god for that as we wouldn’t want to be living near a T-Rex sized bird!
Coming back to the Jurassic World trilogy…
Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
2015 began the first of the Jurassic World trilogy. Jurassic World takes place in a Dinosaur themed fun park located at the side of Jurassic park on Isla Nublar. With some new cast and incredible CGI and special effects this movie became a hit straight away as did Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom which followed it in 2018.
Jurassic World – Dominion
Now we see the 3rd and final movie of the Jurassic World trilogy,
Dominion takes place four years after (SPOILER ALERT!) Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans all over the world both battling to be top of the food chain! We’re sure we’re in for another action packed adventure and we’re here for it!
When it comes to a costume fancy dress party we all want to be current and original don’t we! With Jurassic World Dominion coming out we feel a costume related to the movie is right on trend for 2022! We wouldn’t be surprised if there were Jurassic themed parties for kids or movie themed parties for adults. With both in mind we have a few costumes to show you that will have you set for a roaring good time!
